Pan-Arabist Pastel Sets (2024-ongoing)

Pigment, chalk powder

This ongoing work involves the creation of handmade pastel sticks crafted from pure color pigments and chalk powder, shaped from deconstructed Arab flags and rendered in Pan-Arabist colors. Packaged as sets of four, each edition invites viewers to engage materially with the work. Regardless of what is drawn, the pastels carry the inescapable imprint of their origins—shapes and hues embedded with historical and political resonance. The project interrogates the fluidity of cultural and national identity, suggesting its inherent arbitrariness, while proposing that image-making, like identity itself, is both an act of construction and an assertion of agency.
