Interrogating Forms and Images (2024-ongoing)

Video works
Accompanied with handmade pastel sticks, paper

This work extends the inquiry of the work Pan-Arabist Pastel Sets, delving into the alchemical transformation between material and image. By tracing the pastel stick’s evolution—from powdered pigment to solid form, then back to powder form as it is drawn into an image on paper—I explore the ephemeral nature of objects and the metaphysics of representation. Each drawing, recorded on video, consumes the entire pastel, erasing its physical presence while becoming an image of itself, collapsing the boundary between object and image - a red triangular pastel is used to draw a red triangle. This meditative process interrogates the ontology of the medium itself, revealing drawing as both an act of disappearance and a conduit for transference.
